Tuck as soon as possible after takeoff

Tuck as soon as possible after takeoff

[Summary]
After takeoff, you should tuck as soon as possible.
There are some remarks which recommend you to delay the timing of tucking to get a higher flip.
However, the height of CG(center of gravity) of your body and the trajectory of it are determined at the moment of takeoff by the power of jumping and direction of it.
Regardless of whether you tuck earlier or later, the height and trajectory of CG is the same.
Therefore, you should tuck earlier to make the time longer when you are small and efficient for rotation.
If you do so, you will complete rotation earlier and  have more time to prepare for landing.
Also, you can help loosing rotation energy by tucking (putting strength to your body).
(cf. Tip 4 : Put strength in your whole body while rotating)
But you have to pay attention to jumping properly.
Because, the notion that you should tuck as soon as possible may prevent you from proper jumping.
(And you have to pay attention to the fact that you don’t initiate rotation by tucking.
It’s just only making your form small and efficient for rotation.
Pulling in your legs to your chest doesn’t generate momentum of rotation.)
Having said that, If you wait for tucking, a flip “looks” higher and you “feel” higher.

[Details and Theory]

– If wait for tucking, a flip “looks” higher and you “feel” higher –

Many people tend to regard a height of the head of someone doing a back flip as the height of the back flip.
Also, the person who is doing back flip feels higher when do a back flip in which  the head is higher.
Because a head is much more sensitive to gravity, speed, and acceleration more than a body due to semicircular canals.(cf. Appropriate your face direction)
Therefore, in general, double back flip looks higher than single back flip.

If you wait for tucking, your head rises higher and your back flip looks and you feel higher.

Even if the heights of CG are the same, apparent heights differ.
