Tutorial of Round off (for flips directly)

① Forward steps

Step off from your right leg with your arms up and at the top in the air, bend your left knee.
You should step forward and little bit high.
Don’t slow down and lose the momentum of your run-up.
Put your foot on the ground right under you directly.
Soon after that, put your left foot in front of you.
When both of your feet are on the ground, your upper body should be horizontal.

② Put your hands on the ground

Swing up your right leg straightly.
After your right leg is off the ground, your right legs and the right side of your body make a straight line.
Put your left hand in front of your right foot and close to your right foot.
Note that you should not start twisting until your left hand is on the ground.
Continue to spread your legs and put your right hand on the left side.
Your right hand should be far from you and your left hand, so spread your arms.

You can bend both arms and in the next section push the ground by extending your arms.
You should not have an conscious of “twist”, because if you have, you would also twist your lower body.
You should just put your left hand on the right and near and right hand on the left and far.
That’s enough.
Your upper body would be automatically twisted.
You should spread your legs wider than when you do a round off for a back handspring.

③ While your hands are on the ground

And your back must be arched.
While your hands are on the ground, you should swing your body downward.
To do that, you should flexion your shoulders and hip-joint and make your chest hollow.
If your arms are bent, push the ground by extending your bent arms to get additional rotation.

④ In the air

After your hands are off the ground, put your feet together.
In the air, you cannot add rotation.
Rotation speed is depending on your form only.
If you intend to do a back flip, before your feet touch the ground, you should flexion your hip-joint.

⑤ Jump or fall on mattress

If you want to do a vertical jump only, you should lean forward when takeoff.
It is because you already have a backward momentum and rotation momentum so even if you intend to only jump, you would rotate in the air.
Therefore, you should lean forward like a front flip and chancel out the backward rotation momentum.

You should make your body straight(or slightly arch your back) and vertical to the ground when takeoff.
